pebbles & leavesThis artwork was one of my most experimental pieces so far.  Using my Icarus Heated Painting Board, invented by inventor & artist Ester Roi, I used wax based media including wax based coloured pencils to lay pigment onto Strathmore paper.  I lay the initial couple of layers while the board was on medium to high heat, building the waxy pigment, and then blended with a colourless wax blender over high heat.  The effect of the blender was to make the colours really bright, and add a lovely gloss shine to the artwork.  I also used different methods to lift pigment off the paper, and scratched into some areas to get some fine detail. Once all the main layers were complete & blended, I used oil based coloured pencils to add detail, and tidy edges and to give the painting more depth.  This artwork will shortly be available for purchase in the Art For Sale section of my website.
